Becoming one in Christ

40 Days of Prayer

Day 27

Encourage One Another

Christ Reinertson, Pastor, Southtown, Bloomington MN

Read 1 Thessalonians 4:18, 5:11; and Hebrews 3:12-13.

"Continue to encourage one another every day." Hebrews 3:13 (ISB)

Our soul gets beat up by daily life as people criticize us, complain about us or ignore us; as a driver cuts us off, as a friend or a family member rejects us, or as we give in to our temptations. The result: our hurt and empty soul grabs onto unhealthy things, "turning away from the living God."

God knew all of this daily soul draining and denting. Yet, Jesus, The incarnate, had to experience this in His human soul. I think this is one of the big reasons Jesus needed to meet with His Heavenly Father every morning, evening and throughout the day; to let the only Soul Satisfier, Soul Rester, Soul Inspirer refresh His soul.

Let's join Jesus' soul refreshing team by living out Hebrews 3:12-13. Let's invest in deepening relationships to encourage each other's soul. How is Jesus letting you see other people's soul condition? How can you pray for them? How can you encourage them with words, a note, a text, a favorite dessert or mocha? Be a soul builder.

PRAYER: God, help me to come into your soul healing presence as Psalm 23. Thank you for Your daily soul refreshing and healing. Help me join Your team of encouraging other people with Your eyes, hands, feet and mouth.
