Becoming one in Christ

40 Days of Prayer

I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in Me through their message. May they all be one, as You, Father, are in Me and I am in You. May they also be one in us, so the word may believe You sent Me.

John 17:20-21 (CSB)

It is striking that Jesus, just hours before the crucifixion is praying about our relationships today. Relationships are important to God. God is eternally in relationship: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In His good creation He designed open communion with Adam and Eve. The fall decimated mankind's relationship with God and our relationship with each other. The Gospel is about healing our relationship with Him and with each other.

Jesus makes it clear that unity demonstrates the truth of the gospel. When the church displays the supernatural unity that only Christ can bring, then "the world may believe You sent Me."

I'm grateful you've decided to join us on a journey through the one another passages of the New Testament. God's Word speaks powerfully and practically to how we can live in extraordinary love and unity. As we read and as we pray, may God make us one.

Praying with you,
