Becoming one in Christ

40 Days of Prayer

Day 32

Encourage Others

Dave Wedekind, Disaster Relief Co-Director, MWBC

"And let us watch our for one another to provoke love and good works." Hebrews 10:24 (CSB)

Our walk with Christ has many valley and mountaintop experiences. During my travels with Jesus, I have had numerous touches from individuals who cared and were concerned about me spiritually.

One of those touches was during a difficult period in my life when I allowed fear to control me. I was supposed to speak before a group and I was scared.

As I was standing before that group, a person I trusted came and put his hand on my shoulder while telling the group about my walk with Christ. The moment he touched me I could feel the power of the Holy Spirit completely remove the fear. That person probably did not realize how his touch of love allowed me to move forward with my journey with Christ.

God places others in our path at just the moment we need Him. This verse is addressed not to the one receiving encouragement but to the one who ought to give the encouragement. It shows us the importance of taking our eyes off ourselves, being concerned for the needs of others, and watching for those around us in need of a touch from Jesus.

PRAYER: Lord, open our eyes to see who needs Your love around us. Help us to be Your eyes watching for those we can reach out and touch for Your kingdom. Thank You Lord for those in our past who reached out and touched us with Your love.
