Becoming one in Christ

40 Days of Prayer

Day 8

Glorifying God by Accepting Others

Dennis Hansen, Retired Director of Missions, BLBA

Read Romans 15:1-13.

"Therefore, accept one another just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God." Romans 15:7 (NASB)

How did Christ accept me? That is how I should accept others.

In my early 20's I had no desire for God in my life. the Lord drew me to Himself through a variety of circumstances. I began to date a young woman who, along with her deeply committed born again Baptist family, showed love and care care for me. I attended her church a few times and clearly heard the gospel presented consistently. I later found out that the church had committed to pray for my salvation.

As Jesus continued to draw me, the Holy Spirit did His work of convicting me of my sin against our Holy God. When I repented of my sin, Jesus welcomed me into His eternal Kingdom. I was born again through faith and trust in His finished work on the cross.

In retrospect, Jesus made all the moves. I simply reacted to His love for me. He drew me closer to Him. He revealed my need for reconciliation and forgiveness of my sin. He set His people to praying for me. He treated me with great love and respect. He put His people in my way to care for me. He called me to receive Him. He called me to serve Him.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me do a better job of how I accept others after being reminded how Christ has accepted me. Forgive me when I have been less accepting of others. Help me to consider You being glorified in how I am accepting, loving, caring, and witnessing to others right now. Give me eyes to see the people I meet as You see them. In Jesus' Name, amen.
